Esztergom

Esztergom is the ancient capital of Hungary for several centuries (before Budapest), the birthplace of Saint Stephen of Hungary and his coronation place (in year 1000). It owns the largest church in Hungary (the Basilica), the cathedral being also the main seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary. It was built on the bank of the Danube River, on the border with Slovakia. For me, it is one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Here are some views, mainly from the Basilica.
