The Alps From Above

Some high-resolution photos taken from plane (click on images for full resolution). Here are the Tyrolean Alps, close to Innsbruck. The plane is above the border between Austria and Germany.

Here are the Bavarian Alps in Germany, in the Oberallgäu region. The town in the center of the image is Sonthofen – the most southerly town of Germany.

To the center-bottom of the image is the town of Immenstadt im Allgäu, in the German Alps, and a bit to the right is a lake – the Großer Alpsee.

The Rhine River entering the Lake Constance (Bodensee). This is the meeting point of several countries: the plane is above the frontier between the German states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg (approximately above Lindau), to the left is the State of Vorarlberg in Austria and the capital-city of Bregenz, to the right is the Canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland, and in the background and a bit to the right, in the mountains, lies the Principality of Liechtenstein, one of the smallest countries in Europe.
