Tarte flambée

Somewhere near the Strasbourg Cathedral, to the left in the photo below, there is a road that leads to the façade of the cathedral. Along that road, there are several restaurants…
One of those restaurants has a terrace where you can eat one of the typical foods of this region – la tarte flambée. You can see near the center of the photo below the entrance to the cathedral. This means for me to experience something to the full: eat the traditional food of a region in one of the most significant settings, in the core of Strasbourg…
In fact, the tarte flambée is the pizza of Alsace. It’s made of pork fat and onion. In the photo below you can see the gratinée variety (cheese added). It has an unique taste, like nothing else. Combined with the savour of the place… it was heaven…
I guess it might look strange that I enjoyed that time alone in Strasbourg. After a while you learn to be good company for yourself…
