I’m writing this blogpost from Sibiu, the former capital of Transylvania, known also by its German name, Hermannstadt. I wanted to share some views from the Ibis Hotel where I stay for 2 nights, as part of a longer journey.

Here is a view from my window – the snowy Faragaras Mountains.

I asked the reception to allow me to get by elevator on the roof of the hotel (with a member of the staff – I guess they were afraid I’m gonna jump). The following photos are taken from the equivalent of the 15th floor.

The Transylvania plain in the background.

The old city – red roofs at the centre of the image.

The main European road going through the city.

Proof that I was actually on the roof of the hotel.
